About this calculator
The standard conversion assumes 2,080 working hours a year (40 hours ร 52 weeks). At that convention, $52,000 a year is exactly $25 an hour. But the convention hides real variation: a role with 3 unpaid weeks off, or one with regular 45-hour weeks, has a materially different true hourly rate than the headline math suggests.
This is most useful when comparing a salaried offer against hourly or contract work. A salary that looks higher on paper can be worth less per hour if it comes with heavy overtime. Compute both options on a per-hour basis โ including expected extra hours โ before deciding.
Remember these figures are gross. Taxes, insurance premiums, and retirement contributions all come out before the money hits your account. For a net figure, use the take-home pay calculator alongside this one.
